International Cricket Returns to Dominica as West Indies Women Prepare to Face Pakistan

Six international matches are planned for December, bringing an opportunity to celebrate women's sport and showcase the Nature Island.
Dominica is preparing to welcome international cricket back to the island, with West Indies Women set to take on Pakistan Women from December 8–21, 2026.
According to the announcement, this will be the first time Dominica hosts a full international women's cricket series. The programme will feature three Twenty20 Internationals and three One-Day Internationals, giving supporters six opportunities to enjoy the action and rally behind the West Indies.

The series promises to bring fresh excitement to the island's sporting calendar, placing women's cricket at the centre of attention while welcoming players, officials and supporters to the Nature Island.
Preparations Already Underway
Preparations have begun with a walkthrough to assess readiness for the series. Those participating included the Minister of Sports, Cricket West Indies' pitch curator, a local pitch curator, representatives of the Dominica Cricket Association, the Stadium Manager and the Chairman of the Stadium Board.
The assessment is an important step as Dominica prepares to deliver the playing conditions and facilities required for international competition. Bringing the relevant sporting and stadium officials together provides an opportunity to identify priorities and coordinate the work ahead.
An Opportunity to Inspire Girls and Women
Beyond the excitement of international competition, the series offers a valuable opportunity to encourage more girls and women in Dominica to explore cricket.
Watching international players compete can help young people see what is possible through training, discipline and commitment. For girls who have never considered picking up a bat or ball, the presence of the West Indies and Pakistan teams could spark a new interest in the sport.
Schools, clubs and sporting organisations could use the occasion to introduce more girls to cricket through demonstrations, introductory sessions and organised attendance at matches. Connecting that interest to regular coaching would help turn the excitement of December into lasting participation.
Cricket Meets the Nature Island
The series also presents an opportunity for Dominica's tourism and business community. Visiting supporters could combine cricket with experiences across the island, from rivers and waterfalls to local cuisine and cultural attractions.
Accommodation providers, restaurants, transport operators and tour guides could benefit from welcoming visitors during the series. A well-organised event, supported by enthusiastic local crowds, would also help demonstrate Dominica's ability to host international sport.
As preparations continue, cricket supporters have an exciting December to anticipate. The return of international cricket offers a chance to fill the stands, support the West Indies Women and help create a memorable welcome for both teams.
Further details on individual match dates, start times and admission arrangements will be needed as fans plan their attendance.
