Caribbean Basketball Exposure Opportunity Heads to St. Kitts in January 2027 

Island teams invited to showcase prospective college players in front of visiting U.S. college coaches

Young basketball players from across the Caribbean will have an opportunity to showcase their talent in front of visiting college coaches when a Basketball Exposure Programme takes place in St. Kitts from January 4–10, 2027.

Organizers are currently seeking island teams with prospective college players interested in competing against visiting teams connected with College of DuPage, from the Chicago area, and Marian University's Ancilla College in Plymouth, Indiana.

The programme is being promoted as more than a basketball tournament. Its focus is on exposure, education and creating pathways for Caribbean student-athletes interested in pursuing college opportunities in the United States.

Basketball With a Purpose

For many talented young Caribbean basketball players, one of the biggest challenges is not simply developing their game—it is getting an opportunity to be seen by the right people.

The St. Kitts programme is designed to help bridge that gap.

Participating island teams are expected to receive three guaranteed games in front of college coaches, giving prospective student-athletes an opportunity to demonstrate their skills in a competitive environment.

The event provides a platform where players can showcase more than scoring. Coaches will have an opportunity to observe athleticism, basketball IQ, defensive ability, decision-making, teamwork, discipline and how players respond in competitive situations.

Creating Caribbean-to-College Pathways

The initiative also represents the type of opportunity that can strengthen the pathway between Caribbean basketball and collegiate programmes overseas.

Across the region, talented players are developing through schools, clubs, academies, community programmes and national teams. However, developing players is only one part of the process.

There must also be opportunities for those players to transition to the next level.

A sustainable pathway can look like:

Grassroots → School/Academy → Club → National Programme → Regional Exposure → College Opportunity

Events such as the St. Kitts programme can become an important part of that pathway by bringing players and college coaches into the same environment.
