Antigua and Barbuda Names Team for NACAC U18 & U23 Championships in Mexico

The Antigua and Barbuda Athletics Association (ABAA) has announced its national team for the 2026 NACAC U18 & U23 Athletics Championships, scheduled for July 10–12 in Tlaxcala, Mexico.

The championships will provide another important opportunity for Antigua and Barbuda's young athletes to compete at the regional level, gain valuable international experience and continue their development within the student-athlete pathway.

The female contingent features Geolyna Dowdye, who will compete in the 100m and 200m; Kettia Ambrose in the 400m; and Tyra Fenton in the 200m and 400m.

The male athletes selected are Craig Prendergast in the 400m hurdles, Christopher Johnson in the shot put, Dwayne Fleming in the 100m and 200m, and Kasiya Daley in the 100m and 200m.

Minister of Sports and Creative Industries, Hon. Dwayne George, met with the team ahead of its participation in the championships, offering words of encouragement and wishing the athletes and officials success in Mexico.

The team will be led by Head Coach and Manager Jamille Nelson, with Shaunte Hughes Forester serving as Assistant Coach.

Participation in regional championships such as NACAC represents an important stage in the development of young Caribbean athletes. Beyond medals and personal best performances, these competitions provide exposure to higher levels of competition, help athletes build international experience and can strengthen future opportunities in collegiate and elite athletics.

Student Athlete Focus joins the Antigua and Barbuda Athletics Association in wishing the athletes and officials every success as they represent Antigua and Barbuda in Tlaxcala.
